Man, what a drag. I've been living in Medellin since late March and hav had several things mailed to me from California, none of which have arrived yet. The first was a card sent in early April; the second and third were small packages with a couple second-hand novels in English (nothing expensive or valuable or even seemingly desirable). It has now been well over a month since the card was sent and it's nearing a month since the packages were sent and I'm still waiting. Who knows when or if they'll show up? I'm betting they won't, but I hope I'm wrong. It seems the mail sent internally (sent to and from Colombian addresses) doesn't suffer from the same incertitude. I had a medium-sized package (containing nothing of real value--a belt and a dopp kit) sent to my Medellin address from Santa Marta, and it arrived within a few days. Pretty quickly, I thought.

Sent 2 letters from Ontario, Canada to Medellin, Colombia a month ago. Neither one was delivered.
I refuse to pay $150 Fedex to send a Christmas card.
Useless and rediculous.

Juan, thanks for your comments. I know that Bernice was using the term locombia with huge amounts of affection. She has made Colombia her home and loves the place despite, and in some cases because, of the locuras - just like all of us at Colombia Politics. I'm glad you enjoyed the article. Cheers.

Yes! actually if you sent through USPS, 472 will take it when it gets to Colombia! give it a couple of days. You saw it on the 09 in NY so probably from there went to Colombia. A package I was sent when I was there, well it took 3.5 weeks for them to deliver it!

If you haven't still gotten your package, use the 472 website and try to use your tracking number from usps :)
